Wigwam Village No. 2

Wigwam Village No. 2

We drive a tremendous amount when we travel as a family and it allows you to see the country in a unique way, if you're looking. Pass something cool? Pull over and check it out! Want to see where a road goes? Put your blinker on!

This past summer was filled with roadside attractions. We spent plenty of time on the interstate, but also enjoyed quite a few side quests. Wigwam Village No. 2 was recommended by a good friend and just so happened to fit perfectly into our schedule with its proximity to Mammoth Caves National Park.

Stop by the office to check in and pick up your key.

The owners provided a wonderful history of the motel sharing details about the original elements and the attention to detail as they undergo a restorations. I won't share too much, as I firmly believe you should visit and see for yourself. I will say they are staying true to the 1937 designs.

There are chairs and a table to relax in and the center yard includes playground equipment for the younger kids and a fire pit that burns each night where you can get to know your neighbors. The common question was, "how did you find out about this place?"

The evening was peaceful in our air-conditioned room and we were well rested for our travels the next day. Just wish we had spent more time there. But hey, now we know we need to go back!
